Message To a Grandson

May you be twice as happy this year, As you were last year, And for every year after that, Giving twice the pleasure, You gave last year, And every year after that, To those who love you most. May your best years always be ahead of you, So that you are always looking forward, To something twice as good, And not resting on your laurels, Pining for what can never be again. And when you do look back, It should not be in anger, But to marvel at how far you have come, Despite the many setbacks, And how much more is ahead for you. PS May you take twice the precautions, You did the year before, As you double the risks, So those who love you most, Can keep on doubling their pleasure. Love Granddad.
