Merry Christmas 2017

Christmas Present 2017
I found a little duck many years ago.
Buried in the dirt and only it’s tail did show.

I was a young teen wandering through the woods.
I came upon a place where a house once stood.

Only the foundation stones were left to give a clue
That there once was a loving home with maybe a child or two.

I saw a shining remnant gleaming in the sun.
So I dug around it just to have some fun.

I found a little treasure, a pretty ceramic duck.
I took it home and washed it clean of all the dirt and muck

I searched for years to find who made it and where.
I searched in books and peoples memories, the internet here and there.

And to this day it is a mystery
This duck I found among the trees.

Searching in a junk store what a surprise to see.
Two more ducks alike with no history.

I bought those ducks and now have three.
One for me, one for Sarah, one for Bunny.
Now isn’t that funny!

We are scattered, but one day we will unite.
Until then we will each have our duck to remind us day and night.

Merry Christmas
God bless you love dad
