Merlin the Magic Cat
His mere “meow” is like a thunder
that roars above and under;
all the rats tremble in fear
whether he is far or near.
He’s got eyes that are like flashlight
that shine bright in complete darkness;
he does not fear the creep of twilight
for he’s as brave as the angels.
Just like a great warrior
he fights the rats with wit and valor,
he’s like a knight in shining armor,
just like the wizard of King Arthur.
He fights the rats so they won’t cast
a scourge that rots the flesh;
he’s like a guardian in a fortress
that saves a “damsel in distress”.
He entertains me like a clown
to wipe the sadness and the frown,
he cheers me up when I am down,
he makes my fear and worries gone.
I feel secure when I’m beside him,
more so during the evening;
he’s like the anchor of my dream
for he guards me when I’m sleeping.
Every morning, I see him jumping
to the ground down from the ceiling,
but what is most inspiring
is when he falls, he’s still standing.
Oh! Merlin the magic cat,
he is the fear of every rat,
for his magic makes a blast,
it casts a spell that does not last.
