Bleeding below the horizon of night
a scarlet sun tints the last shafts of light.
In the ebony of space set with stars,
Luna rises unashamed of Her scars.
And as creatures gather beneath Her beams,
She sends sprits to dance upon sparkling streams.
Chilled air arrives riding an evening breeze,
rustling the leaves atop the swaying trees.
And yet, silence rebukes the slightest sound,
as unseen animals scurry around.
Ominous shadows now merge with the dark,
while solitary silhouettes stand stark.
But soon, dawn's first light resurrects the sun
and rising as a phoenix, day has won.
Night's nocturnal critters all disappear,
waiting for the darkness to reappear.
