Menu For Two

   Dinner for two
It was just me and you
   Long day
   Needed some sustenance
   Then on our way

   The waiter approached
   Standing overhead
   Crooning the menu
   Oblivious to others
   He continues to recite

   He knew it all
   I can read
   Don't take all night
   What was the sale about
   Next stanza was a boast

I have nine children said our host
Does he mean to sell them to me
   In cute little dessert cups
   Or just for free
   Not interested
   I'm hungry
