Memory of youth
    picking fruit in neighbor's yard
    shots of salt on back

PS II. As poet KIM RODRIGUEZ asked me about
         salt shot, here under a brief report :

       Salt shot was the replacement
of projectiles by little ball rolled of salt, was not mortal,
but it caused a slight wound ... The owner of the yard that we caught fruit was reputed to use salt shots ... but in fact
never used against us, boys of being neighborhood ... This occurred until the late 60's on some properties ...
Nowadays it does not exist anymore and it is forbidden by law ...

In younger days we were never fired upon, but everyone knew everyone in town; so it was almost a game. My brother and I would belly cross into our neighbor's garden, even when he was on the porch; and eat rhubarb raw. He had to have seen the plants moving and then disappearing. Mum would hear about it next day, how her boys were raiding his garden; but nothing was really said. All knew all and all knew was. Thanks Alkas!!!
