Memories of Summer
Awaken at dawn to a chorus of birds
Warm sunlight on my pillow
Cumulus clouds in a cerulean sky
Fields of golden wheat below
The buzzing of a honey bee
As it passes by unseen
The distant sound of a cricket game
Being played on the village green
A graceful flight of swallows
Soaring high above the trees
The fragrant scent of lavender
Carried by a summer breeze
A picnic with my loved one
Eating strawberries in the sun
The peaceful sound of a blackbird singing
When the day is done
All these fond memories of summer
Seem to help me in a way
When the weather’s cold outside
On a frosty winter’s day.
