Memories of a Splintered Past

Old politics fly out
      the window
with the dawning
of a different age
    Let the sun
beat down on the city
   we need its warmth
in these cold times
    the mist
surrounding our hearts
     makes
us feel secure
   Our old hopes
are dashed on the rocks
     as the bitter
realities
    strengthen their
hold on us
The will to continue
   and the courage to
seek love and peace
    must remain with
us
   and as the moon
rises over the city
    a faint glimmer
of starlight
reaches us
   Yes, broken and
humbled
    we'll continue on
our journey

The Universe and God shall deal with politics, all we can do is live every moment no matter what. love Kristin
