Memories and Memorial Day

Memorial Day, as I knew it, seems many centuries ago. When sometimes those in service came back on a joyful, surprise furlough. Families, friends, fun,~oh how with laughter and great and gateful glee we all got together! And recalled those souls we had lost.... Lives disappeared , like wind blown, beautiful feathers. So proud were we of our country! Nobody of my day, dreamed of burning a flag. Sadly, these days are to blame, point fingers and nag, nag, nag! Hot dogs and hamburgers sizzled on our grills. The huge American flag planted proudly in front, gave us shivers and thrills. We learned in schools real, American and not revisionist history! And we prayed and bowed our heads even in schools, for all who died so we could be forever from tyrants, free!! My family and I will joyfully carry this year on this great day a most honorable tradition. For no governor will prevent us from honoring those in graves who died to protect forever this God given Constitution! We are the generation, who lost many in far more than one war. No, we do not bow to propagandized fear! We will bring back full freedoms once again to all Americans once more! Don't buy the cheap hopelessness and hype. Time to get all your rights back on Memorial Day, dear patriots, as the time is more than ripe! Recall that great song, "this land was made for you and me." And now, you will have to fight a new war now, to get back your God given liberties! May 23, 2020 1pm PST Poem# 1290

A masterful verse, Panagiota! You expressed in poetic form what Memorial Day is all about! We owe so much to our veterans, too many of whom died, so that we could celebrate such days as Memorial Day, 4th of July, etc. Thanks for posting this very insightful and meaningful poem. Bob

Bob..am shortening my reply. I removed the earlier one. Am proud of the USA and glad to be an American. You are right ~~~all holidays mentioned should homor those who served. Keep the torch of liberty held high. Love your neighbor...hang the American flag with pride every day. Many may not like this poem, that's OK. Bless all poets. Panagiota

This a very beautiful tribute to Memorial Day Panagiota. We have a flag waving both in front and in back in honor of those who have given all. My husband, Stepfather, brother and daughter all served. Thank you for honoring them. Blessings, Connie xxoo

Thank your family, Connie, who all served! Love that you have flags in both front and back. Also I have red, white and blue little lawn lamps that come on at sundown. Most honored by your comment! We had family in the Pacific, India and Australia in WWII~ I have utmost respect for those who put their lives on the line, that we stay free. Not only for us, but all the allied countries our families fought and died for ... Hugs, Panagiota xoxo Men and
