Memories
Memories
Some memories will never die.
Those saccharine summers limping on,
Etched in my mind like a longed for song.
And those I have loved,faces keen,faces bright,
The fevered Noels always in sight.
I remember those fireside chats,
Our humour for hire, drunk on indulgence,
Dreams on fire. Some memories will glimmer
And glow, strong and proud in their honoured place,
Others, mere whispers that wait to earn their rightful
Space.
And bad memories? They may wail and groan,
Tell of pasts,no mercy shown.
And come they will, knocking at the door,
Bursting through.But,like a passing storm,
Will fade and still. Yet,as I look back, every one
I cherish, and like ripples upon a moonlit lake,
Will melt into sweet night.
