Melodies of My Own Making
I’d like to go out singing joyfully when life is o’er
Melodies of my own making in four-part harmony,
Harmonious heavenly choirs like never heard before.
White-clad angels chanting at heaven’s open door
As sweet as syrupy honey cakes in a gastronomy,
I’d like to go out singing joyfully when life is o’er.
Like the great tabernacle choirs of ancient yore,
Multitudes of singers in one ethereal ceremony
Harmonious heavenly choirs like never heard before.
Accompanied by lovely poems written in our lore
Read by the greats gathered in glorious company
I’d like to go out singing joyfully when life is o’er.
Come to think of it, could anyone ask for more?
When one’s life has been awash in gray cacophony
Harmonious heavenly choirs like never heard before.
In any case, my wounded spirit and soul shall soar
Beyond realms of personal free-willed autonomy
I’d like to go out singing joyfully when life is o’er,
Harmonious heavenly choirs like never heard before.
