Melanin

Melanin
Girl, your melanin is POPPIN’
You woke up like that
You’re flawless
Yo’ skin is mixed with caramel and chocolate
As dark as night
Or as light as honey
Yo’ hair is so big and curly
You turn heads when you come into a room
Everyone becomes blinded by your glory
You’re feeling yourself…
Feeling your melanin
You are magical
You walk with an air of confidence
One that no one can deny
Erykah, Lauryn, Sade
Nicki, Rihanna, Beyoncé
Taught us self-respect
Taught us never to settle for less
Taught us to love ourselves
To love our melanin
