Melancholy Michael
Melancholy Michael is my friend.
He comes to town and blue always begins.
We play our flutes to uplift his bad mood,
But he relishes his sadness solitude.
Melancholy Michael, so depressed.
Hangs his head down lower than the rest.
So gloomy and sad, he’s miserable too.
We sing and dance, to chase away his blue.
Melancholy Michael, perpetually joyless,
And somber as an angry crocodile,
I try to teach him happy pastimes,
But not once have seen a real smile.
Melancholy Michael is coming to town.
His energy depletes me, pulls me down.
Melancholy Michael is my friend,
But to save myself, this
