Melancholy

There is nothing like the melancholy
That lives deep within me
At times I struggle with this ravaging beast
As it tries to consume me whole
But nothing could ever overpower a soul
As the battle ends
And the defeated beast
Crawls back into hibernation
I wonder how long until
Its next cyclical appearance
And the level of its intensity
