Meeting Expectations

How much longer will you cast me aside
Late at night, I thought of you and cried
Wondering shall it be better if I died
For I only feel the hurt you provide

Hold me, someone, for I am weak
I am too hurt to move, too tired to speak
A person to understand is who I seek
Someone to care for me as though I am unique

For you, I want to be perfect
Desiring to earn your respect
But am I the one you will always reject?
What exactly am I to expect?

Jessica, You convey your pain very clearly. I can feel the anger and despair too! I hope that these feelings exist only on the page and not in this life. Great write. Very moving. And if these feelings are real, I do care. Bless, Will
