Medication

I wake up in the morning
I yawn and rub my eyes
I stretch my body slowly
As I begin to rise
Straight into the kitchen
I make a cup of tea
Then I sort my tablets out
And look what's on TV
I sit my body slowly
I light a cigarette
My body's aching badly
Soaking wet with sweat
Then my eyes start closing
Cause the Meds are kicking in
I want to stay awake today
But morphine's gonna win
Dinner time has come around
I have to go to bed
Cause I can't stay awake no more
I'm holding up my head
I won't wake up till teatime
When the day has gone
Then take more medication
Wishing I had none
I'll stay awake till 8ish
Then tablets once again
It's such a vicious circle
And it's driving me insane
So now I've missed a complete day
Lay flat out in my bed
With this routine I have to do
I might as well be dead.

Oh dear Donna. I'm on med's too and have to sleep a lot in the day. It's not easy but hang on in there. if we need to take them then they need to be taken. you clearly have great talent as a writer. and express yourself well. my writing is my therapy. without it I'd go crazy,. keep penning. best wishes. Pete.

Hello Donna, Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with family. I like the way you take me into every step in your poem... Sadly the end is true, so much we miss daily... Super enjoyed... LINDA

if this is just a poem it captures the sense of depression if in fact it's based in truth my heart goes out to you
