MEANING
Over time the meaning can get lost
And few now know what was meant
Maybe it is an ancient spell or curse
Perhaps it is something even worse
In academic circles there is dissent
And into bins, attempts are tossed
Whether hieroglyphs or strange text
True meaning gives way to a guess
Well, what does count as information
Yet all attempts made at translation
Keeps them occupied nevertheless
All anxious about what comes next
