Me World

"ME World"

In a ME World 'we' sadly live in today.
All the many selfies show this, display,
Just how centered on ourselves we humans are.
It's always, 'See ME, look at ME the star!'

ME says...
"Oh, love ME, don't dare to criticise
Even though a fake I am in a 'real' disguise.
So what if I'm arrogant, ego driven to the core.
You must accept ME, Love ME, and adore!

I can treat you like crap, be cruel and unkind,
But still you have no right to object or mind!
I don't need to make an effort to be a better ME,
Because there's no need in this ME World, you see.

Any way I act, anything I do, is a-okay,
For I can justify with any excuse I say.
Accountability!? What's that even mean?
It's a word!? It's one I haven't seen.

Humility!? Is there such a word?
Respect!? This sounds so absurd!
Integrity!? Now, this one sounds scary!
Such words are not in 'my' dictionary.

My ego is my friend, the holder of my pride,
Where it's all about ME, ME, ME in and outside.
In case you haven't heard or don't know by now,
ME is all that matters, the what for, to, and how."

PFFFFFT!
Ugh! This ME World we're living in today
With the focus on the ME, with the ME on display,
Is sickening at best, leaving this me in disgust,
For Love cannot live in all this ME ego lust!

I love it that respect and integrity are not even in the "me" dictionary! No room for love either. Wow! Great missive, Artsieladie!
