Maybe

I SEE THE WAY SHE DOEN’T TREAT YOU RIGHT.
I SEE WHAT YOU KEEP DEEP INSIDE.
YOU KNOW SHE WON’T STAY.
THAT’S THE PRICE YOU PAY.
FOR US IS IT TO LATE.
MAYBE IF I HAD BEEN THERE INSTEAD OF JUMPING THE GUN,
YOU WOULD HAVE REALIZED YOUR LIFE JUST BEGUN.
IF I COULD JUST HOLD YOU ONE MORE TIME.
THE WAY I HELD YOU WHEN YOU WERE MINE.
IF I HAD KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW
THEIRS NO WAY I LET YOU GO, NO WAY, NO HOW.
IF I COULD HAVE BEEN THE PERSON YOU COULD RUN TO
THEN I’D MAKE EVERY DREAM COME TRUE.
I WOULD NEVER LET OUR FEELING GO
IF THEIRS ANY WAY I WOULD HAVE KNOWN.
IF WE COULD ONLY TAKE EACHOTHERS PLACE,
WE COULD ERASE THE PAIN WE COULDN’T FACE.
THEN MAYBE YOU COULD LOVE ME,
THE WAY YOU LOVED ME.

Thank you for adding your spices to the soup Jeanette. I am enjoying reading all the appetizing poetry posted here today. Have a wonderful week. May inspiration hit the tip of your pen and never let go. Love, Carol
