Maybe

Maybe I can see I’m dead.
Maybe it’s inside my head.
Maybe I should trust my Lord.
Maybe I should seek accord.
Maybe I should question this.
Maybe I should shun his kiss.
Maybe I could seek outright.
Maybe can escape this night.
Maybe I’m as mad as hell.
Maybe that is where I dwell.
Maybe I am just a fool.
Maybe no kingdom to rule.
Maybe I am just a man.
Maybe they see I’m a sham.

Maybe I’m afraid to know,
That this ordeal imposing,
And honour must depend,
Upon this drama closing;
For me, for man, for God?
Such a gruesome end.

We had a beautiful service at church today, and the weather is gorgeous. Your poem reminded me.

Carolyn it's interesting ; I was assuming the persona of Jesus Christ and didn't realize that it reads as if I am talking about me! Perhaps that makes the poetic experiment even more interesting? Thanks for your kind words!

You're certainly no sham, David, but a talented man who creates very compelling poetry. Happy Easter, Carolyn
