May Triolet

Each May begins in trepidation
To darker grow each passing day.
My birth month never brings elation.
Each May begins, in trepidation
I move forth in protestation,
One more year to fade away.
Each May begins in trepidation
To darker grow each passing day...

oh, really half-century! I know exactly the feeling you are talking about. I dreaded it and had an AWFUL birthday... but something magic happened as I woke the next day... I realized that I'd been at the end of my 40's, an "old 40 something." But now, I was a "new 50 something." Magic. big smile. You'll see, it's gonna be fine!

Birthdays just aren't as fun as they used to be for me either! Hope this one is happy indeed and that you have an absolutely magical year! (especially like the use of "trepidation")

Thanks, but this one is the half-century mark. Been dreading it for awhile... I do appreciate the thought, however.
