May I Have This Dance?

We looked at eachother
Taking each step one at a time
May I have this dance
Take my hand
And pull me close

I remember the lights on us
In the center of the dance floor
You took off your mask
And revealed the person within
I lifted my hand
And removed my mask

There was a gasp
And you leaned down
I reached up
And our lips locked
That was the begining
Of our lives together

Alexz, this poem reminded me of "Romeo & Juliet," meeting on a dance floor wearing masks. It sounds like you met your one true love. Congratulations! Great work. Carolyn

Lovely, Alexz. Your poem reminded me of my senior prom...thank God I was popular in High School...and not considered the school's dork-ass moron LOL!. Each verse in this poem is real, down-to-earth and honest. Your poetry is quite exceptional when you keep it tight and simple. I'm hosting a new Member contest - I think you should enter it - this poem warrants attention! Peace always, John
