May As Well Wait
If the world crumbles like everyone says it will
and it will
if everything we ever believed in goes downhill...
If dark sky masses loom around the bend,
if the earth stops breathing and the sky falls and the world ends:
I'm gonna run to your porch
bang on your door
until you come out.
Grab you by the sleeve.
Run with me.
You really need to trust me now.
If we run in the direction
where the winds come from,
if we pass up crowds trying in vain to hide,
He'll know we're on His side.
If I never told you the truth
if I never even tried to save you too
I may as well just wait here
I may as well just wait here.
He didn't suffocate the earth with blacktop and plastic.
He didn't kill off its inhabitants.
He only wanted the best
yet this is what He gets.
Trust Him.
If I never told you the truth,
If I didn't try to save you too
I may as well just wait here
I may as well just wait here.
Run.
