Maternally Yours

Sorrowful kisses
Placed on a tearful cheek
Flushed with pain and sadness

Comforting arms
Embrace a quivering body
Left shaking with fear and loneliness

Sympathetic words
Caress throbbing ears
As the cries of heartache echo within

Gentle hands
Wipe weeping eyes
That no longer behold
The beauty of ones self-worth

A hopeful smile
Given to a once laughing face
Which now only frowns
With despair and confusion

Understanding silence
Given to impart empathy and love
As only a mother can do

To mend a daughter’s first heartbreak
