Masterpiece

MASTERPIECE

A cordial wish
A thoughtful gift
A sincere gesture to show that he cares
Disheartened reaction
The response spits rejection
Times like these, life can seem so unfair

Bewilderment stuns
Deep hurt succumbs
Space between the two, grows a bit more
Heart's sting is repeated
His spirits, defeated
Sad thoughts surface, seep in like before

Uncertainties meddle
Doubt and anxiety settle
Worrisome thoughts about what's left behind
Hard questions remain
Unknown answers, the same
Struggles constant, occupying his mind

This loss, has been so much more
More than he bargained for
Moving forward, a tough endurance test
Each decision made, has a cost
Will the next be a win, or another loss?
Sleep evades him, his body demands rest

Oh, how you feel, I can't imagine
Your shoes, I have not been in
How I wish I could lift your heavy heart
The relentless pain, I can't take away
But, beside you, there I will stay
And keep the promise, I made from the start

This upheaval, distressing
In disguise, may be a blessing
The journey forward, will truly be your own
I pray you'll find faith
Courage, hope, and grace
Empowerment lies in these stepping stones

Though we don't know the reason
For your struggle, in this season
God has a much greater plan for you, I believe
So carry on and persevere
In all times, He is near
A work in progress is still a masterpiece
