Mary,You Were Favored

Mary you were favored
By God from above;
Favored with our Savior
Born to show us the Father’s love.
Mary you carried the seed
To save a whole wide world.
Through the baby kissed by you
Redemption was unfurled.

As you held your baby,
You held the Lamb of Heaven;
A short and troubled life
For eternity to be given.
Mary you were chosen
And above all women praised.
You stood crying at the cross;
Witnessed your son from death raised.

Mary you were favored;
Your son rose from the grave
To free men from evil’s bondage
By which they are enslaved.
Mary you were favored
To see Heaven’s promise;
Your child’s planned resurrection,
Portraying a life of great purpose.

Mary you were favored,
But sheltered not from pain.
God in His love and great mercy
The future did not explain.
Your son was born to save you,
And billions of other souls;
Those who choose to follow—
His glory to extol!
