Marilyn Monroe
I feel empty,
Or feel too much
Like Marilyn Monroe
Like me,
What goes on through our heads
Only we would know..
We just wanted love,
Without any conditions..
We've known a form of love
And its many renditions
But it wasn't real, nor was it true,
So we gave ourselves up,
To be with who
We thought would complete us,
However, we could not trust,
Our anxious minds lit up the night
With silly thoughts and thoughtful rhymes..
All we want is to be loved,
More than anything,
I just might,
Close off my heart and seal off its cracks...
All I wanted was our love to leave sweet tracks,
But all I can feel is nostalgia and woe,
Very similar to Marilyn Monroe...
Love is, and was, our goal,
To find the person to make us whole,
But all we got was hatred and were berated,
Like we didn't deserve to fill our heart,
And it tears me apart,
Like other beings,
We need love,
We need that other to complete us like a glove..
Like Marilyn Monroe,
I've been beaten down, and felt trapped
Inside my own head and heart,
But I haven't snapped...
Like Marilyn Monroe,
I keep standing strong,
Not losing hope..
That one day my love will come along...
