Maria

always happy and laughing, you lit up the room with your smile,
god used your expressions of love towards us lasting only for a while,
i'll never forget you, or the impressions you've made,
knowing you were dying, but in your heart the foundations were laid,
you knew where you'de be when your life here would end,
your memories touched my heart, a most cherished friend,
i was small when you left, but i knew where you would be,
a life now lived with god forever in the comfort of eternity,
you taught us each week with such enthusiasm as you read to us god's word,
you explained how to let jesus into our hearts with a smile that reassured,
you may have left us physically, but in my heart you are not gone,
your love for god was beautiful to me, and your memory still lives on,
how could i ever forget you,
i know i never will,
you were truly an angel sent from god, and his purpose you fufilled,
i remember asking my mom "why is she so happy, knowing that she is dying?"
"shouldn't she be very sad, shouldn't she be crying?"
my mother replied in a sweet tone of voice "that's because she has jesus living
in her heart."
"he makes her so happy, she forgets all her pain, and anticipates seeing him
when she'll depart."
i tried so hard to understand, as i watched her lift her hands, and praised god
while she was singing,
this truly was not the very end for her, but a new chapter and a new beginning,
god used an extradinary woman in my childhood to stir the curiousity in my heart
and mind,
to pinpoint the direction on where he wanted to take me, showing me there was
a love i'de soon be able to find.
