Marathon Legs

Marathon Legs

Those tanned, shapely legs.
Where have you gone?
No longer can I, a race run.

Nor feel the salt water spray,
from San Francisco Bay
That kissed my dawn face.

Those days, the busy hands of
time has erased.
Some other body in its place.

Did you take away my youth in a dream?
If so, nobody heard a scream
from me!

I am left here writing poetry.
Is this how life ends?
On a device?

Rather be the woman on the
run.
Than an old crone, in lockdown, having no earthly
fun.

Even avoided in poetry,
Because to cancel culture, I
bend no knee.

A lone patriot!
With hungry eyes from China for our land, do I see!

God bless this country!
Once, the glorious land of the
free.

Hello Panagiota, whether we like it or not we change. We have no say with the change. Hugs Darlenexx

I feel differently. I have yet to cave into any stage of my existence. As I repliedied to Tom, this poem is far more than about aging. I do not fold like a deck of cards to any situation..many do.I NEVER will. Thanks my friend, Pangie xxoo ...

Our bodies change as we get older but not so the beautiful young mind within. Tom

True...but this is more about the joy of the beauty of San Francisco Bay than me, It’s, title is not what the poem is about. Pangie xx
