Manufacture Life

Keep wasting the years
Spilling blood to appease your fears
Lost in this material plain
You're constantly trying to gain
Objects with no meaning
and no ryhme

Empathy
I wonder what that means
Aren't we all just machines
Doing the bidding of our master
Daily routines
embedded into you forever

The time for escape is coming
You need only start running
Break loose from the pack
Make your own rules
Live by your own means

The herd is not your rightful home
Feel no regret
Even as you rest in your tomb
For you'll not be truly dead yet

Molded into their shell
They breed a mindless army
Fashioned in stupidity
Feeing their control

Thoughtless they continue this life
People kept in line
by the edge of a knife

Matthew, Break free and find you solace. Live well and strong. Be true to your inner self. Let God lead. If you find Him, your life will be in the world and not of the world. It's a great place to be. Congratulations on haveing your poem featured this week. Keep writing. Love and Hugs, Dane

Thought-provoking piece, Matthew. I've long believed that greed drives much of the evil in the world. Welcome to the Soup! Donna

One would imagine a life filled with loving people. However, there are times when the imagination is not reality. We hope that war will cease to exist one day. Great job and welcome to the Soup! ~Joseph
