Maniacally Happy Nurse
We have had ten cases of Covid this week.
The nurse says this in a cheery, delighted, weird way.
Is it the new strain? I ask.
No idea, she says happily.
Forgetting this is Wednesday, I later wonder,
Did she mean since Monday? Two days or Wednesday to Wednesday?
She is asking me questions now about the reason I am here.
I have to concentrate. I know I am allergic to something.
What the heck is it? I am busy studying this maniacally happy nurse.
Latex! I yell. I am allergic to latex.
