½ Man ½ Amazing

½ Man ½ Amazing

A man of my demeanor is startling
Just to be a human being is the 1st thing
And to live as an African American
In today’s society is astonishing
So call me half man half amazing
To still be living at 30 is a blessing
Holding down a career in Information Technology
Is a hard thing
A full time job and going to School at night
Is tiring
To the one that did it before me
I’m admiring
Today’s world is constantly changing
So, I have to be half man half amazing
I’ve come a long way from bagging up dimes
To sell in transition
To sitting at the conference table with my boss
Making business decisions
Half man half amazing
From struggling in school with proper grammar
To Network engineer and computer programmer
Half man half amazing
From writing my 1st poem from a jail cell
To writing this one in my office with a story to tell
Half man half amazing
From walking in the blistering cold trying to cover my face
To driving a luxury sedan with no tints in it’s place
Half man half amazing
To you these stories may seem untrue, that I’m confessing
But I lived everyone, and to God I’m counting my blessings
Now all I need is a queen to make my wife
To make my life complete and close the final phase
So, that I can be a whole man
And truly amazed
