Mama's Ring
The garden is where mama enjoyed being.
In early morning light, till dark in the evening.
Papa has been passed for almost a year.
cancer took him away from us all here.
Mama is adjusting. I know she misses him.
They were always together. They were best friends.
As mama was picking, I was still digging.
I noticed she wasn't singing.
She shed some tears and said she lost her engagement ring.
Don't worry mama I'll help you look,
For now let's finish here, so I can start to cook.
Shoveling away the cool damp dirt.
I hit something down in the earth.
It was a box, surrounded by rocks.
Mama hurried to open.
When she did, there sat her ring
Beside an envelope.
I'm sorry my love I borrowed your ring.
But my time was getting too close.
I want you to feel special again
place this ring on your hand real slow.
Sent From up above, down to where you stand.
will you pretend marry me?
Till we can meet again, let our love grow like a plant from its seed.
