Making Snowmen At Midnight
Come on! Whispered Daddy. Let’s sneak out and play.
It was a weird thing to do, but the best thing in a way.
My sister and I sneaked out and put on boots and hats.
By the light of the moon we could see the might bats.
Where are your coats? Daddy said. You’ll need them you know.
We did not realize until we got outside,
There was gobs of pure snowman snow!
It was frosty and pretty, and it stuck exactly right.
We rolled snowmen up for an hour of delight.
Now let’s sneak back to bed, our Daddy said. Not a word.
The next day Mommy said “Hey! Guess what I see?”
We all pretended to be surprised by the snowmen. How absurd!
But it was the best time my sister and I ever had with our Daddy Lee.
