Make His Mother Your Best Friend

Diamond rings come in French, Portuguese, British cuts. They are brilliant, marquise, round, emerald, sometimes pear. Half-moon, rhomboid, princess, radiant, heart, oval cuts. One thing for sure, when you see one, love is in the air. I have had many diamond rings in my day, upgraded mine too. From round to Asscher to cushion to a brilliant radiant diamond blue. My husband thinks it is hilarious that I like to keep upgrading my ring. But he did not give me any choice when he bought it, is the real thing. He took his mother, who I love dearly, but our tastes are not the same. I really wish he had let me in on it, and let me have some say in that game. The ring does not matter truthfully, it is the man you gain in the end. And if you can do it, please make his mother your very best friend.

Caren, I would say this is one of your best poems.. In regards to use of vocabulary and flow of the poem... Opening lines of a poem are always important to draw the reader in and yours do that...
