The Australian Magpie (Cracticus tibicen) is a medium-large songbird found throughout Australia. The fine, fluty warbling song of the Magpie is a much-loved sound of the Australian bush. Its chorale is recognised in its name 'tibicen' means 'flautist’.

Listen to poem:
magpie 'tibicen'
you are indeed a 'flutist'-
your warbling delights
