Macavity the Mystery Cat
T.S.Eliot
Macavity is a mystery cat-he's called the Hidden Paw,
For he's the master criminal who can defy the law.
He's the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad's despair
For when they reach the scene of crime Macavity's not there.
Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity.
He's broken every human law, he breaks the law of gravity.
His powers of levitation would make a fakir stare
And when they reach the scene of crime, Macavity's not there
But I tell you once and once again, Macavity's not there!
E J Clark
He leaves behind no prints of crime - he knows if caught he'll do some time
For the master sleuth is on his tail, if caught he'll be whiskered off to gaol.
The master sleuth Sherlock combs every hair to be seen,
He looks indoors for Macavity's paws for where he might have been
The best detective was quite reflective at having missed this opportune time
The help he had was defective; they missed the clue of the Prince of Crime.
Thus it was the master criminal; whose stealth was quite subliminal....
....Eluded the Yard and I the Bard can testify to the SENSATIONAL!
