Lyrebird Tales

Mound in the wiregrass is the stage for the dancer in the hills, who steals the arias of others, then through the valley fills, a laugh, a whip, a cackle. Even a stolen axe's ring! Tales of the bush are spoken when a Lyrebird does sing.

G'day Panagiota … I am certain you would enjoy just being in a valley where lyrebirds live and find where they dance and feed. Thanks for your compliment as well Panagiota - Lindsay

Hello Andrea … a lyrebird is brown and pheasant like in a way. They are forest birds where the males make dancing mounds. Their mimicking is exact so they fool many people - thanks again Andrea - Lindsay

For me, informative and intriguing. I learn so much from your poems, friend! Best wishes always, Gershon

G'day Gershon … I will admit I enjoy writing about my experiences in the scrub particularly and if I can teach you about what I've observed in the forests that makes me feel good - thank you Gershon - Lindsay

Hello PAT … these 'brown chooks' as some refer to are an amazing bird. They make a dancing mound and confuse you with their imitating - thanks for commenting PAT - Lindsay

Aussie here Lindsay. Best thing is that you write Rhyme. A forgotten genre now. We have many Pheasants here as we call them locally. I will be cruising through you other writes later. Just started writing again myself. Wrote a couple in the 50s, then too busy after that. Never was a pro, but I have fun.

G'day Warren … I do prefer rhyming verse too. Pleased to read that you have these 'pheasants' with you. Must be careful if one is close by that imitates a phone ringing. I'll have a read of your poems shortly Warren - thank you - Lindsay

No one has commented, yet? They must think, "bush" refers to female anatomy! Well done, Lindsey! Aloha! Rico

Hello Rico … I don't think too many on this site would know what a lyrebird is. It's a master mimic and dancer believe me - thank you Rico - Lindsay
