Lullaby For the World
Sleepily rest in its stillness, as the night lingers,
find peace, rest and comfort
in the morning sun as it begins to rise.
Close your eyes just a little longer,
drift in the early shadows
that sweep away the dark
and catch the light as it softly glimmers.
Hold steady to your faith,
clutch it tight against your breast
breathing in its promises
that life is a most precious gift.
Hum the refrains of childhood lullabies’
that once kept you safe in youth
and tempted you to wonder on the future
that so quickly came to be.
Sing softly the words of hope and peace
and shout the anthems for change
pray for the times yet to come.
Rest safely in your dreams and prayers
as the Lord knows well your goals
and gives the answers that you need.
Listen in the quiet safety of your heart
and spread the gentle hope
in a lullaby of the world.
