Lullaby At Midnight

As the strain from the strings
floats softly in the midnight air,
sleep, my darling, sleep.

In the quiet of this starlit night
while echoes linger so gently,
in sweet slumber lay.

Lovingly, tenderly I whisper
that only the stars can hear
"sweetheart, I need thee."

By the words and the melody
from the soul coming deeply,
rest, beloved, goodnight.
