Lucky Stars

Id have dived to ocean floors
To pull you up from under
your deepest darkest blues
Would have grabbed your pearl on the way down
Would have polished it new
And placed it on your crown
I remember when i held your hand
like a newborn
Afraid to drop you
My shoulders soaked from your tears
As you cried out all your fears
Did you do enough over the years?
Maybe if you saw the sun in you
The leaves wouldn't have fallen
The fruit wouldn't have rottened
The song we played
Burned like oak in my head
We sang every word
til we were ill and red
I'd re write every song if I could
To remind you that you
were the best line
But my pen runs out of ink every time
November came and the stone took you from me
And with it I rolled away too
But how lucky are the stars
Now that they have you
