Love's Toll

Love's toll
By Michelle Morris

I will always love you
Even though we're far apart
I wave goodbye to your soul
As it this world departs

Graveyards are the loneliest of places
It's where so many of our dreams die
We stand in mourning at funerals
So much heartache, loss and crying

Yet, I am eternally grateful
That we were together on Earth
It may not have been the longest time
But, it was certainly worth it

I have so many beautiful memories
Of time that meant more than words
Even though I am heartbroken
I can feel God and His Angels close

They give me warmth and comfort
In this world so cold and grey
They help me through the darkness
And show me the light of day

It will take time to heal my heart
It will take time to heal my soul
But I am grateful for the emotions
That remind me of love's toll

And I will always love you
Even though we're far apart
I look up to Heaven above
And thank God for His support
