Notes About The Poem

Author's Notes:  This "Rhyme" poem is entitled:  "Love's the Soul's Fire."  With this particular poem, I've taken a bit of a deep dive into the rapturous, but quite necessary aspects of "Love" as an integral part of all of our lives.  I do my best to address this theme from both a common perspective and a metaphysical nature as related to the "Human Soul."  As difficult as love can be for all of us at times, it's still that all-powerful, emotive force that compels us to seek solace in one another's shared company while finding (or attempting to find) that more profound linkage with our individual soul and perhaps God himself.  Love is always a quite special topic for poets and dreamers.  It is, after all, an incalculable force in our finite human world that does indeed make the world go round.  And it may be later, an integral aspect of one's admission ticket to Heaven, that is, if one is Heaven bound, which lies in the realm of God's grace and decision and is clearly not for us mere mortals to make.  I hope you find this poem to be of interest!!  (Gary Bateman - January 4, 2015) (Rhyme)

Love's the Soul's Fire

Love’s a mystical force, that’s laden with nectar and emotion,
That many people sacrifice so much so often for in this life.
Love has the properties of an all-powerful alchemic potion,
Which is said can better help those in such a forlorn strife!

This famous four-letter word has such a unique persuasion,
And has made those lost in it so hopeless to understand it.
Love’s been known to make people quite crazy on occasion,
Which makes it most alluring and for some—a proverbial hit!

Love does make one very crazy at times because of its sheer power,
And its ever-emotive force affects surely the body, mind, and soul.
Love’s all-pervasiveness puts it in demand daily and by the hour,
And its deep influence is felt so special within one’s mind and soul!

Love’s that special emotion that many never really get enough of,
And as the language of Cupid, it sends signals not always clear to see.
This fuels a person’s fury when he or she only desires to be loved,
And will sacrifice all so greatly while crying even on a bended knee!

Love’s the soul’s fire and it makes one’s life whole and worth living,
And it’s the balm which calms frayed emotions—a surcease of sorrow.
Love’s an enchanted state of being, that when shared keeps on giving,
And with its angelic qualities helps all of us find that better tomorrow!

Love’s the soul’s fire, influenced by Cupid’s most wonderful intent;
And Love, worth its weight in gold is most worth having in our life,
As one seeks its solace and divine rapture on that final angelic ascent,
When God calls one’s soul to Heaven love abounding, free from strife!

God’s message is simple—a special need of love in one’s life and soul,
And that’s why love’s the soul’s fire, which makes us human and whole!

Hello Gary! Excellent piece you've penned here. Wow! Reading it I have to agree with you in most everything 100%.This is a very beautiful and very deep absorbing subject to take on but I see that you've done it in a very fantastic manner my dearest friend Gary. Love to me is the most beautiful emotion in this world! The very best of all! .Just remember for a second where it comes from to start with, it comes from God so you can see why the beauty and power of it more so in its true divine nature. Sadly too many people misuse it and abuse it and choose to hurt others with it.Your pen is golden! A gigantic 7 from me! I love your poem!I wish you and Ingrid the very best in 2015! Have a very lovely Monday evening! :) Love and hugs! xoxxxox D."

Hello "D"!! I was off yesterday from writing to catch my breath. Thanks so much here for your most wonderful and quite enchanting note. (And Happy New Year too!!) I figured you would probably read this poem sooner or later. I did put some time, thought, and passion into this particular write. It kind of developed a life of its own as wrote it. Love is indeed so precious. I hate to see people misuse it and abuse it like you mentioned. Thanks too for the "7." (When I receive comments from you, I know that they are always well-conceived and written from the heart. They are always most appreciated too "D.") Continued Best Wishes for 2015!! XOXOXO, Gary

In Greek Mythology, when Zeus decided to create the world he changed himself into Love for to achieve the harmony between the opposites so as the world to be born! You are right my friend, Gary, that love is the fire of the soul! How could it be otherwise when love is the core of the world? Saint John: epist. one, 5:8 says that God is love! Without love no world, no soul, no God! A great poem marvelously put together in great depth! Happy New Year!

Robert!! Thanks so much my dear friend. I'm quite pleased that you liked this "Thinking Person's Rhyme Poem." This one did take a bit of time with my venturing into the metaphysical arena. I'm quite proud of this write, but alas, it's not in vogue with many of the normally expected PoetrySoup writes. But that's okay -- need I say more?? Best Always, Gary

Anne-Lise My Dear Friend, As with Liam -- I always look forward to your read and review of my poems. I am quite thrilled that you like this one. Although it's an open rhyme poem, this one took a while to write as I was trying to blend in the metaphysical aspects of the poem with more of the common day nuanced themes I touched on. Regardless, I too liked the end result!! Best Always!! Gary
