Love's Pity

You claim that I'm clingy,
As if I still love you.
All I can give you is pity,
For that isn't true.

You gave me a year of pain,
And misery from you inspired.
Though my life isn't the same,
You defeated love's fire.

I no longer care for you,
My heart given to another.
And now I bid you adieu,
For you are like my brother.

And now I give you love's pity,
For I am free of your spell.
You were determined to hurt me,
How disappointing that all is well.
