Notes About The Poem

I would really appreciate any comments about the Love's Field poems.  I want to make these into children's books.  I feel the message of love and friendship for all is very necessary today,

Love's Field Day 4 Lady, Buzz, Needles, and Sweety

Love's Field Day 4 – Lady, Buzz, Needles, and Sweety
Kevin Davis 2025

Sweety awoke in her silken nest,
Dreams of Love Field still warming her chest.
Hummingbirds circled with wings all a-blur,
Their voices like music, a bright gentle stir.

“Are you going today?” asked Ruby with cheer.
“Can we come with you, Sweety, to see what grows near?”
“What’s that on your back?” cried Judy with fire,
“A gold heart that shimmers, a jewel to admire!”

“Yes,” Sweety smiled, “it shines on its own,
It came just yesterday, a gift I’ve been shown.
Come with me, friends—but remember this shield:
Kindness and love are the strength of Love Field.”

With wings like a whisper she lifted to sky,
Her friends darted after, a rainbow on high.
They landed at last in their welcoming tree,
Where Lady, Buzz, and Needles waited with glee.

“Look!” cried Lady, “Needles glows bright,
A heart on her shoulder, golden with light!”
Sweety leaned closer, “Buzz and Needles, turn around—
Why, you carry one too, glowing and sound!”

“And Lady,” said Needles with a soft, happy sigh,
“You bear one as well, warm as the sky.”
As each looked at each, new hearts shimmered near,
Symbols of magic, of love growing clear.

The meadow beyond seemed alive in their sight—
Flies, beetles, bees and birds danced in the sun’s gentle light.
Flowers burst open, the tall grasses swayed,
Every small creature laughed, sang, and played.

“Look!” Lady called, “yellow hearts everywhere!”
Buzz peered through his goggles—“They sparkle the air!”
“Then let’s not delay,” Needles cried with delight,
“The feast has begun in this meadow of light!”

They joined with the crowd, in sunshine and song,
Sweety’s friends Ruby and Judy came along.
“Thank you,” said Ruby, “for bringing us here,
This place is so wondrous, so full of good cheer.

“But tell me, Sweety—your gold heart so new,
Where did it come from? Could I have one too?”
The friends all smiled, their voices as one:
“These gifts are from friendship, where love has begun.

“When hearts join together, the field comes alive,
With magic that helps every creature to thrive.”
“My goggles appeared,” Buzz said with a grin,
“Now sight is a joy, not darkness within.”

“My wings once were clear,” said Needles with glee,
“But now they are emerald, strong, carrying me.”
“I was like all hummingbirds,” Sweety confessed,
“But glowing with love sets me apart from the rest.”

Lady looked kindly: “And Ruby, you too,
Will find your own gift when the magic shines through.”
Ruby grew quiet—then warmth filled her frame,
A golden fire blossomed she scarcely could name.

Her feathers lit bright with a shimmering glow,
A crown made of sunlight began there to grow.
“I feel it inside me—it’s gentle, it’s true,
This kindness I carry is changing me too.”

They gathered together beneath their tall tree,
Hearts glowing brighter than stars one can see.
The flowers leaned closer, their colors more bright,
The clover sang softly, all sparkling with light.

Sweety soared upward, her wings brushed the air,
And petals burst open with sweetness to share.
Lady's flight gave strength to the bark of the tree,
Teaching other small insects to live joyfully free.

Buzz leapt from leaf to leaf, sharing bright cheer,
Encouraging growth as he scattered off fear.
Needles spread pollen from flower to flower,
Turning each blossom to honey-sweet powder.

Love's Field embraced them, like arms open wide,
Healing each creature with joy deep inside.
No one was fearful, no one stood apart—
The meadow was guided by love in each heart.

Blossoms of ruby and gold softly glowed,
And gold hearts brightened wherever friends showed.
The field stretched wider, fourfold in its length,
A family of life bound in kindness and strength.

When morning returned, new vines twined the land,
Shaped like warm hugs, they drew hand into hand.
And all of Love Field sang the lesson above:
To live without fear, and to lead life with love.
