Love's Embers
The embers still smolder,
Though the flame is long gone,
And we sit here processing,
How it all went so wrong,
The heat and the passion,
Burned hot and so bright,
You could see it for miles,
It would light up the night,
But then something happened,
It started to fade,
The air got colder,
A mistake had been made,
We missed all the signals,
We failed to react,
We couldn't rekindle it,
To clean up our act,
So now it's just embers,
Void of a flame,
As we sit here and wallow,
Shivering with shame.
