Loved and Protected
Last night I heard a horn scream.
I ran to my window and witnessed this scene.
I could see a man on a horse in the shadow of night.
Then the rider unmounted and was surrounded by light.
From the light I was blinded and I could no longer see.
There was no one around, except for him and me.
Then the horse ran off, and the screaming horn stopped.
I regained my vision, then to my knees I dropped.
I saw myself as a child, sitting just outside.
I could also see this rider, kneeling right by my side.
I could feel his pain and see tears on his cheek.
I tried to call out, but I could not speak.
His arm was around me as I continued to watch.
There was a cross on his shoulder with blood in every notch.
When I was a child and felt fear to the bone.
I could now see he was there and never left me alone.
God stays with his children as they wander this earth.
He is there at the end, and at the moment of birth.
I now understand and no longer feel flawed.
I am loved and protected, by my savior and God!
