Love Your Neighbor As Yourself

Love your neighbor as yourself
The entire Law, per the Sage Hillel
Before you take another book off your shelf
Take time to study this Levitical Law well

First of all, it's not 'advice;' it's a Law, a Precept
No less binding than 'Thou shall not steal'
A Commandment no matter how hard must be kept
He loves your neighbors; so must you: That's the deal

To love another, you must love yourself first
   Focus on positives; build self-esteem
A negative attitude will lead you to the worst
Project positivity -- Self-confidence is no dream

Now you're ready to love others as yourself
To mourn sad times together; to celebrate glad
And by loving the Lord's fellow creations
You'll be beloved amongst His Congregation

"Love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord."
                                                    ~ Leviticus, 19:18

You cannot love yourself without first loving others. I am convinced of it.

Changing the world begins in each individual heart, so heeding the sage guidance of your poem must be where peace and good will begin, Gershon. Well done! :)

Excellent sermon in poetic style, Gershon! As we used to say in the Air Force, "That'll preach!" Bob

Didn't really mean to sermonize. Oh, well... Thank you very sincerely for pointing it out to me, and glad it was ok with you pilot! Have a wonderful Sunday, Bob! Best always, Gershon

That's right, Tom. Gotta have both, as you observed: Love AND Respect. One without the other doesn't quite cut it. Cheers, Gershon
