Love Tug of War

Come and be a part of me, now conjoined
Our lives meshed relentlessly caught
Netted forever in daily favours we appoint
In constant debt to save love's abort

Entity rules written on parchment ethereal
Compile acumen requirements
Tolerance adopts compassionate interior
Faith pledge beckons kindness

Independance threatens from near corner
Sinister as demon intending to leap
Reports a lost opportunity to love coroner
Solitary plight, pride intends to keep

Conscious strive for linking brings prosper
Combined denotes concerned
Response an innate component longed for
River of reciprocation yearned

Innoculated beneath doctrine of obligation
Committed beings tread carefully
Self derived bliss retains a vapid formation
Of solace seen in together revelry

- torn in concept
  of tug of war demanded
  by needing others as much
  as I rely on myself

Hi Sigrid reminded me of Natalie Imbruglia Torn, I can feel your independence struggling with outside influence, tug of war, very difficult to go it alone, yet sometimes hard to trust others, so much B.S. out there, beautiful complex poem, reflects my life perfectly cheers David

Always I appreciate your scope, David..... Somehow we must play, for we find ourselves on this stage!!

A wise man once said: 'If I am I and you are you, then I am really I and you are really you. But if I am not I and you are not you, then I am not really I and you are not really you.'... The eternal 'tug-of-war' between independence and dependence in love and war. Thanks for the provocative penning, Sigrid. Best always, Gershon

... Like and despise you for providing that mind twisting wisdom...! Totally the concept I am taking on board for the first time!! Cheers for your much appreciated support, Gershon.
