Love Trees

Deep within the forest green, And hidden far behind its many leaves. Lived creatures not often seen, Preyed upon by users and thieves. They flew about carried by wings, Of paper thin, transparent gold, And every morning with the birds they'd sing, Songs and lullabies of tales ancient and old. One soul at a time, Their numbers would increase, With never a sign, The migration would ever cease. But much too often a heart would migrate, Into the cool, green abyss. Only to end up in a painful state, Their contract with hurt sealed with a simple kiss. But every so often, Two hearts would stay, Forever unbroken, In the forest all of their days.
